Kinds of Blue is an artist's book that documents the changing colour of the sky over Toronto, Ontario; Sugar Run, Pennsylvania; and Haliburton, Ontario, over the period of one month, March 2011.
Although many publications focusing on the cataloguing of clouds of the textures of weather have appeared in recent years, this project is exclusively concerned with documenting the pure and overarching colour of the sky over the course of one month.
In tandem with this daily observation, I embarked on a deliberately open-ended path of research beginning with questions of a scientific nature and branching onward to tributaries of a more philosophical and poetic nature. In keeping with the spirit of the project's title and the informal tone of typical postcard musings, texts drawn from my research, as well as notes, letters, and other writings generated from my personal observations were also incorporated.
